Russ L'HommeDieu, DPT, ATP, CFPS
Dr. L'HommeDieu has practiced physical therapy for more than 35 years, including long service as a VA Home Safety Coordinator on a home-based primary care team. He holds the Assistive Technology Professional (ATP) credential from Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA). An ATP has met education and experience requirements and passed a national exam on matching people with the right equipment and technology. He is also trained in aging-in-place design and modification through the National Association of Home Builders, and he is a Certified Fall Prevention Specialist, trained in screening fall risk, balance testing, and current best practices for preventing falls. Aging in place means living safely and independently in your own home as you get older. Home modification means changes to the house itself, such as grab bars, ramps or wider doorways. He teaches in Doctor of Physical Therapy programs.
He earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy at Touro College and is a doctoral candidate in health education and leadership.

We assess how someone actually moves, thinks, and gets through the day, then judge the home against that. A hazard list without the person is only half the answer.
Independent by design
We prescribe; licensed contractors build; you hire them directly. We accept no referral fees, so our recommendations answer only to you.
Measured results
We follow up at 7 days and track what gets done, falls, and ER visits, so we can prove what works and improve what does not.
Our framework
Every assessment follows the Systems of Systems approach Dr. L'HommeDieu developed and teaches. It brings together three established lenses: the immediate physical and social environment of the home, the social determinants of health, and the World Health Organization's International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health. In plain terms: the room, the life around it, and the person in it.
